Armenia - Passenger vehicle

General Rental Information

Important documents

The lessee and the driver must be in possession of a full, valid driver's license and present it together with an identity card (for Armenian citizens only) or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.

Individuals holding Armenian citizenship or dual citizenship are permitted to drive in Armenia with a foreign driving license for up to three months from the date of entry into the country.
After this period, an Armenian-issued driving license is required to legally operate a vehicle within the Republic of Armenia.

EU Driving Licences
Valid driving licences of all EU countries are accepted (Exception: Iceland, Ireland, Cyprus, Spain and Malta. Only valid in combination with a international driving permit).

All Other Licences
Drivers need an international driver's license, if the driver doesn't have a driver's license issued by one of the following countries:
Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cabo Verde, Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Myanmar, Netherlands, Niger, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, State of Palestine, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zimbabwe.

Driving Licences issued in countries mentioned above and printed with non-Roman Alphabet, must be accompanied by a translation of the driver's license into Armenian or English with an explanation of the category assured by notary or Embassy, unless an international driver's license can be presented that contains all the necessary information and the date of issue of the national driver's license.

US and Canadian customers also have to be in possession of an international driving licence.

Chinese driving licenses are not accepted.

Photocopies, digital licenses, Learner's Permits, and driver's licenses with driving restrictions will not be accepted.

Age Restrictions

Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 18 years. A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle.

In Armenia, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

For the groups LDAR, LFAR, XDAR and XFAR: Driver has to be in possession of a valid driving license for at least 3 years, which is stated on the driving license or proven by other document.

In Armenia the minimum age is 18 years.

A surcharge applies for young drivers under 21 years or in case the driver has held the driving license for less than 3 years.

Tariff information

General

All credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, ARCA (Armenian Card), Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa, JCB, Mir and UnionPay are acceptable as payment methods whereas Visa Electron are not accepted. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver. This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time.

Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.

The maximum limit for cash payments is 300,000.00 AMD. The limitation does not apply if cash is used for a deposit amount.

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

For young drivers the Advance Charge Approval will be doubled.

Special rental information when booking Prepaid rates

Prepaid tariff - Pay now

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.

Changing booking

A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 9444,00 AMD. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.

Cancellation

A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show

In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Protection conditions

Third Party Insurance (TI)

Protection coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of 1,800,000.00 AMD for material damages. Maximum cover for personal injuries is 10,000,000.00 AMD.

Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim, or if the driver is under the influence of alcoholor drugs or refuses to pass a sobriety check or violates any other protection term.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

Loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) is accepted, the customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 500,000.00 AMD

If loss damage waiver (incl. theft protection) is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.

Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess (BE)

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with reduced excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 250,000.00 AMD

(Top Cover LDW = BE)

Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess (BF)

If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess to eliminate the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.

If Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 AMD

Loss damage waiver (including Theft Protection) with minimum excess is not offered on the MBAR car group.

(Super Top Cover LDW = BF)

Tyre and Windscreen Coverage (GT)

The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.

If the protection is not accepted, the customer will be held liable for the full extent of the damage.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

The vehicle is to be operated in the territory of Armenia.

Cross Border Rentals are not allowed.

In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.

Extras

Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.

One-Way Rentals

One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Armenia are allowed under conditions depending on tarif.

In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.

Navigation system

Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.

(Navigation system = NV)

Additional Driver

A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.

Baby and child seats

Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available subject to a fee.

(Baby Seat = BS Child Seat = CS Booster Seat = BO)

Motorcycle helmets

Motorcycle helmets are available subject to a fee.

In case of loss of the motorcycle helmet a fee will be charged.

Vehicle refueling

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise the current prices per litre of petrol or diesel will be charged in addition to a refuelling fee.

If desired, the vehicle will be refuled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station.

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

Delivery & Collection

Delivery/Collection Service is on request. Please contact the local rental station.

Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.

This service is available on request for an additional commitment fee outside opening times at selected locations.

If you delay please let us know on time as reservations outside the regular opening hours can only be sustained for 30 minutes. In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected and was not cancelled during our regular opening hours, a no-show fee applies.

The renter is obliged to report the vehicle back to SIXT at the end of the rental period.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available subject to a fee.

Car 12 Volt USB Charger

A Car 12 Volt USB Charger is available subject to a fee.

Driver Service

By choosing the driver service a Sixt driver will be supplied for 8 consecutive hours per day in the business hours. Additional hours and services outside business hours are available at the local branch. The customer remains liable for the condition of the vehicle except when the vehicle is physically moved by the Sixt driver.

Driver services are available within respective city limits and any trip outside the city limits will need to be coordinated with the Sixt location in advance. Additional charges for leaving the citylimits may arise and will be charged extra locally. Please contact the local branch for more information.

Parking

A parking permit for special areas in Yerevan marked in red can be purchased at the SIXT counter for a fee.

Cooling Box

Cooling boxes are available subject to a fee.

Winter equipment

All vehicles are equipped with winter tyres from 1st december until 1st april.

Other charges and taxes

Premium location fee

A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.

Out Of Hours

Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.

If you delay please let us know on time as reservations outside the regular opening hours can only be sustained for 30 minutes. In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected and was not cancelled during our regular opening hours, a no-show fee applies.

Loss of items

A Lost Of Key Fee applies depending on the vehicle group.

Flexi Return Guarantee

Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement.

If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on +374 10202531 or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.

Flexi Return Guarantee in the tariff Pay later

If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.

Flexi Return Guarantee in the tariff Pay now

When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.

Flexi Late Return in both tariffs (Pay later & Pay now)

If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you AMD 5.000,00 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.

Flexi Return Location in both tariffs (Pay later & Pay now)

If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of AMD 5,000.00 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance.

With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.
